Hmmm interesting story - considering the times we are living through right now.

Lots of thoughts come to mind when reading this book - about tracking, control, women's rights, conspiracy and more.

The book moves well ... and when reading this, you tend to ask yourself questions, and feel all the right emotions, as well as wanting to ensure that something like this never happens. Government Control is something that people are standing up against all over the world and at times this book reminds me that we need to be more proactive and not allow tracking etc to become the norm in our lives.

Being written from the view of mother and daughter really worked in this book. I think at times both of them struggled pretending that everything was normal, when in fact everything was not normal, not in their control ... as they try to navigate their way through their every day lives, in the world as it is today.

The Ravagers Box Set - Book 1 to 3 .... by Alex Albrinck

In the distant future, humanity staggers against wave after wave of population decimating catastrophes, and hope fades as the extinction point draws near.

They find a time capsule carrying with it the knowledge of the past, technology that allows them to rise above their meager existence. Within a few generations, they've built walled cities to protect them from predators they'd learned to fear, bustling commerce, and telecommunications capabilities that connect people and businesses.

They've also restored the means to make war. Two great factions control East and West, each preparing to fight while hoping war never comes. Humanity wouldn't dare fight a great war so soon after nearing extinction.

But there are some who would prefer those astonishingly low population counts. And they'll unleash a weapon unlike any other in human history to achieve those ends.

Five people with varying levels of knowledge and responsibility of those plans live their last normal day, unaware that they'll be fighting for their lives against a weapon which cannot be stopped.

But somehow, they'll all need to figure out how to survive the unleashing of... the Ravagers.

Okay - this kills me to write this - I have tried and tried to get through the first Book (Activate) .... and I am struggling .... I wondered if it was only me, so I looked online ... and read other reviews for this book. Some didn't like it but persevered and found the whole set to be awesome.

I have tried and tried ... but I don't think that I have totally grasped what is happening truly ... and I am bored with trying to enjoy it ..... I can honestly say that I have never not finished a book before, and it breaks my heart .... to say ... I am going to walk away and not finish it.

I may come back to it ,,, at a later date ... but for now .... no, I just can't. I won't give it a rating ... that wouldn't be fair ....

This book is published by Harlequin ... we have all read some Mills and Boon books from time to time - they are a great reading these days.

This book was enjoyable - the relationship between the 2 of them had been simmering from the very first time that they met.

I found this story romantic, and sensual - at times you could feel the passion jumping off the page.

I did enjoy reading this book - to be honest, from the beginning, 2 chapters in and I knew how this was going to end .... it was a bit of a slog, and I felt like it was a bit tiring this story.
I get being a Christian Romance, the story was a lot more tame than I am used to reading but I did feel that it could have had more emotion to the story and the characters.
Once the romance actually took hold of the pair of them, and you knew that they were going to end up together ... the book flowed just a little quicker - and then just like that ... it was over. I turn the page waiting for a little more - and I have to get the next book to see how things turn out after they are married.
I did like this story but I don't think that it grabbed me enough to want to go out and get the next book.

Heyoooo .... I have not disappeared. LOL

I have started 2 books ... and both of them have been a real slog ... but I am pushing through with one of them ... the other one I will get back to at a later date.

I have a book to finish from NetGalley - and then hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things ...  don't you get annoyed when a book drags?

Good Girl : A Rockstar Romance ( Wicked Book 1) - by Piper Lawson

Haley’s job is to keep rockstar Jax Jamieson out of trouble…

Not to fall for him.

I was hired to work for a legend. Instead, I’m being seduced by a man.

When I took an internship on rock god Jax Jamieson’s tour, I never thought he’d look twice at me. He’s older, cocky, jaded and nothing like the college guys I’m used to.

He’s gorgeous, rich, talented, and the biggest rockstar in the world.

Too bad I rubbed him the wrong way on day one.

Now he takes divine pleasure in making my life hell. During soundcheck. On the road. At the hotel after shows.

I need this job for reasons he can never know. That’s why I have to be cool under that smoldering gaze and arrogant grin.

The bigger problem is when the cynicism slips away, exposing the cracks beneath. When he lets his guard down to tell me things he hasn’t told a soul.

Because a million women might scream his name...

But he whispers mine.

GOOD GIRL is book 1 in the enthralling, emotional bestselling rockstar romance series WICKED. Start reading now--you'll be desperate to binge Jax and Haley's epic completed story!

Publication Date : October 13th 2018    Pages : 236

...................................................................................................................................

I nearly didn't finish this book - the first couple of chapters didn't overly grab me ... Jax and Harley just didn't sound like a good connection to me, no matter what love story you throw around ... but as the chapters went on, I found myself understanding each character and beginning to enjoy watching their relationship grow. The banter between the pair of them is interesting - once Hayley let's her guard down.

Snippets here and there, touring on the bus, the limelight Jax is under at all times, Hayley trying to juggle her college work, her search for her father, her job on the road ... it all makes for a good storyline and then throw in all that Jax has happening in the background with his own family ... this is a good unfolding story.

So I am just settled down and ready to read, I turn the page ... and nothing ... it's done ... I have to get the next book in the series to see what happens with them ... smart move .... I will get the rest of the series, it's got me, I need closure on their relationship ... thanks Piper!

................................................................................................................................................

I settled down with this book - and it felt vaguely familiar ... of course it was, I read this when it first came out but I enjoyed it that much I re-read it.

I found the storyline took a whole new look at Heaven and Earth ... it was great to actually read the way that the author described everything ... it was nice to look at things through different eyes.

Time seemed different ... once they had found Arielle, took her back to Heaven, with no memory of her angel life, showing her friends, places and a new lifestyle had it's moments ... but she stepped up and dealt with it and didn't back down, when she knew Earth was in trouble, all because the Demons were looking to destroy the surviving humans.

The unfolding of the love shared between Ariella and Rumen was well written ... and I did like the style of the writing of this book. They story had it's light and dark moments throughout ... but it flows well and is really enjoyable. As I said before, this is the 2nd time I have read the book and enjoyed it just as much as the first time ....

Vampire Bait (The Angler Series Book 1) - by Annie Nicholas

After her husband's death, Connie thought her heart too broken to ever love again, but the lure of an immortal man is strong. The body count keeps rising, the pressure is on, and the slayers want a stake through Rurik's heart. Is he guilty? Connie doesn't think so, but if not him, then who? If she doesn't find out soon, the people she cares about stand to become collateral damage. urban fantasy vampire book series

Published : January 18th 2014    Genre : Urban Fantasy   ISBN : 978-1451527759

..................................................................................................................................................

An enjoyable read ... from the beginning you do believe that Connie is playing a very dangerous game, anyone taking on Vampires must be pretty damn confident in their abilities. Her attraction to her target on this mission, Rurik, is instantaneous, and is the beginning of a spiral of mistakes that put her life and her heart in jeapordy.

I enjoyed this story - there was no long descriptions of places in Budapest, just enough to give your mind the pictures it needed to visualise in your mind what was happening.

As Connie had the ability for the majority of time to keep the Vampires out of her mind (unless she was drugged) I got the impression that she was made of tough stuff so I was a little surprised at how quickly she gave in to her attraction to Rurik, but it is a love story in the end, so I could deal with that.

The description of Rurik was great but I did not get a good feel of what Connie looked like .... I pictured her with dark hair .... apparently she was blonde.

If you get the chance to read this book, you will enjoy it. I am planning on reading the rest of the series when I get the chance.

A Little Bird - by Wendy James

Running from a bad relationship, journalist Jo Sharpe heads home to Arthurville, the drought-stricken town she turned her back on years earlier. While some things have changed—her relationship with her ailing, crotchety father, her new job at the community newspaper—Jo finds that her return has rekindled the grief and uncertainty she experienced during her childhood following the inexplicable disappearance of her mother and baby sister.

Returning to Arthurville has its unexpected pleasures, though, as Jo happily reconnects with old friends and makes a few new ones. But she can’t let go of her search for answers to that long-ago mystery. And as she keeps investigating, the splash she’s making begins to ripple outward—far beyond the disappearance of her mother and sister.

Jo is determined to dig as deep as it takes to get answers. But it’s not long before she realises that someone among the familiar faces doesn’t want her picking through the debris of the past. And they’ll go to any lengths to silence the little bird before she sings the truth.

......................................................................................................................................

This book is written from a couple of perspectives - from Jo's and also from her mother Merry's.

I quite enjoyed the back and forth from the present to the past ... and I found that there was just the right amount of time given to each of their stories as the chapters went on. The author paints a perfect picture of each time .... and at no point do you feel confused with the characters, the scenes or the relationships amongst everyone in the book.

There is love, there is intrigue, there is friendship .... and there is also pain ... for Jo and her father Mick, trying even now, all these years later trying to work out what happened to Merry and little Amy. There is the long held hope that they are out there, not wanting to be found, living their best life. As the story unfolds, with snippets here and there, the mystery begins to unravel ... right down to the conclusion of the book ... where all the answers come together.

I think that Wendy James wrote this book really well ... it flowed, it was intriguing, and the story line was realistic, right to the end. I loved this book - and would highly recommend this book to anyone. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

Fairies of Light - J.E. Hanson

This book starts off with Rosalie as a five year old girl. A social worker found her at the bottom of a closet as a baby. Due to tragic circumstances, she was reunited with her family as a five year old child. What happened to Rosalie as a baby? What happened to her parents? Will Rosalie ever find true happiness? Join us for the second book in the series with cameo appearances from your favorite Vampire Enforcers and Jeannie Justice from book 1.

ISBN : 978-1500273422   First Published : 2014   Genre : Fiction/Fantasy

.......................................................................................................................................

Okay ... I persevered with this book. It started off well .... and my heart was breaking for Rosalie .... she had a very rough start in life and seemed to be getting handed from family to family, only for the money they could get for taking her in, not for their care, concern or passion for her. Once rescued and taken back to her true home (Avalon) where she finds out that she is a Fairie and Royalty, her life begins a massive transformation, and she finds happiness and some sense of what it feels like to be loved by family.

Settled - fast forward from a 5 year old returned to her true home - to a 16year old spoiled brat ... I didn't expect Rosalie to remain totally innocent and nice all the time, but she developed a rotten foul mouth, foul attitude and seemed to care only about what she wanted and I felt let down. The story line seemed to lose itself amongst all of that ... and I began to feel like I was reading an entirely different book.

Going through that stage of Rosalie - to the new Rosalie who is falling in love with Spike (who is really .... I am not going to tell you - you have to read the book to find out), the story then takes a slightly more adult turn ... to the endless attraction to Spike, the intimacy, and at one point it felt like it also was a seperate book.

I finished this - don't know that I want to read the 3rd book though ... I felt like the writing lacked consistency - the style of writing seemed to change... and I felt at times like there was a lack of really confirming who was being written about. Characters became 'he' or 'she' ... at one point I had to backtrack to work out who 'she' was ... finally got it.

I finished this book but could have put it down ....
