: The Hurt Locker :

THE HURT LOCKER (released Feb 2010)
An intense portrayal of elite soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in the heat of combat. When a new sergeant, James, takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team amidst violent conflict, he surprises his two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, by recklessly plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat. James behaves as if he's indifferent to death. As the men struggle to control their wild new leader, the city explodes into chaos, and James' true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever. I sat down to watch this movie, and expected it to be non-stop action ... well, it wasn't what I expected. In places, it was downright slow - but that was what kept you sitting on the end of your seat. James was always jumping headlong into situations that had the other soldiers afraid for their own lives as well as their leader.
You begin to understand the nervousness that surrounds each of the men as they leave the safety of their barracks and head out yet again to disarm another bomb, knowing all along that they are the target of these bombs.
Sit back, enjoy the movie - and just take it as it comes - you will find the action is subtle, the tension high, and the outcome you won't see coming.

RATING - 7/10
